The fourth candle is a very good music.
To tell the truth I like first version without some notes.
I feel that is very simple and beautiful because the first theme is alive.
I'm not good at soprano recorder, so I played first version by alto recorder.

お返事に書きましたように､たった１小節の違いなのですが､中間部の終止を再現部の冒頭に重ねない改定前の方が私はシンプルで美しいと感じました。イケホウトさんは逆にそこが激しく気に入らなかったようです。さて､何かしらの感想を戴けるでしょうか。
その後､こんなやり取りがありました。

I think your soprano version is fine. In fact, I prefer the more open sound of the soprano here. Also, I really wanted the last movement played on 3 C instruments, and it took me a long time to mentally get an idea of how to approach that. By playing it on an alto you sort of negate that. The players should really have to work on making that wide range work. If you play it on alto you make it too easy, but also you lose the contrast of the timbres.
By the way, I sent you the score before it was on IMSLP so that you would not be influenced by my performance, and I was curious to see how you would approach it.
You play it faster than I did. I have no problem with that. I debated how to notate this piece. I may still change it to 9/8 or even 9/4 to suggest a slower speed. But your speed is fine.
Another difference is that you play it slurred. That's an artistic decision that I would never take. I don't know why, but I like it better with a very broad articulation.
Next I have to write the last movement of the Courtly Suite. I have the idea, I just need to write it. It is going to be a piece for soprano singer and recorder quartet or maybe recorder trio and continuo.
Btw, have I ever pointed you to my MacJams site? Apart from writing for recorder I also do a lot of electronic music, and some music that is a mix of real and software. This piece came out pretty well, with a decent recorder solo in the middle that is improvised:

I apologize that I couldn’t guess your idea and desire.
Now I understood the background of this Fourth Candle by the website you linked.
Simply I like the high tone of Alto Recorders better than the low tone of Soprano.
And I can’t judge whether the tone of Soprano is correct or incorrect.
It might have the cause in my ear. The eardrum was damaged about 15 years ago.
I listened your performance in IMSLP now. You play it rather slower than I did.
I think yours is the most suitable tempo.
On the other hand, I think the music is free from composer as you say.
I imagine my music before performance by the music sheet only.
I think it’s the performer’s capability and talent.
Fourth Candle was a good experience in my music performances.
